The A. Scott Crossfield Aerospace Education Award

Here's the directions for submission for this award, straight from the new version of CAPP 15:

What Is It?

  • A recognition for senior members who earn a master rating in the Aerospace Education Officer Level II 215 Specialty Track

Who May Participate?

  • Any senior member except: Aerospace Education Members, Retired Members

Materials Required:

  • Specialty Track Guide for Aerospace Education Officer (CAPP 215)

Procedure:

  • Member completes requirements for technician, senior, and master ratings
  • Commander initials checklists;  Master rated members may apply for award

Step-by-Step:

  • Complete a CAPF 2a to request the award In Section I, complete all boxes
    • In Section IV, check "Other" and specify "Crossfield Award"
    • In Section VII, list dates of service as unit aerospace officer
    • Fill in Unit Charter Number, Signature, and Typed Name and Grade of Requestor
    • Obtain signature of flight / squadron commander
    • Attach copy of Master rating checklist; send to National Headquarters / ETA
  • For members who earned a Master rating in the 215 Specialty Track prior to August 1998:
    • Complete a CAPF 2a to request the award
    • In Section I, complete all boxes
    • In Section IV, check "Other" and specify "Crossfield Award"
    • Attach copy of Master rating Checklist [no checklist was provided in the pamphlet prior to 1990]
    • Fill in Unit Charter Number, Signature, and Typed Name and Grade of Requestor
    • Send form, with checklist attachment [if provided] to National Headquarters / ETA

National Headquarters will send Crossfield certificates to the unit for presentation.  Each member purchases ribbon and/or mess dress medal from Civil Air Patrol bookstore; wear is in accordance with CAPM 39-1.
