- Message from NER Cadet programs: "I would remind you all that the time of year is fast approaching when nominations for annual awards are due. We do not get many nominations for these awards and I am sure every wing has some outstanding cadet program people who deserve to be recognized. Do not forget the new Jack Sorenson Award. That should be awarded at the Wing, Region and National level. I would expect your wing winner would be sent to the region to compete for the region award and I know that we send the region winner to National."

- 2009 Region Cadet Competition will be held at Westover Air Reserve Base, Chicopee, Massachusetts, Memorial Day weekend, 22-24 May
- 2009 Region Cadet Academy will be held at Massachusetts Military Reservation (Otis Air National Guard Base), Massachusetts, 19-30 July
